Description
With a country still reeling from the fallout of a global pandemic, one decision sets off a chain of consequences that will change the landscape of a town and their lives forever.
In West Yorkshire, a small village just outside of a large university city, is contrasted by rural communities, old traditional mill values and the bright lights of a sought after academic location. As the economic crisis grips hold of the whole nation those rural, working class areas see rising unemployment, social services under threat of collapse and all around the streets hum with a quiet desperation. For some survival is a compromise of will, for some it means a compromise of integrity.
Craig and Dotty are young and in love, full of the promise of their lives together until economic ruin turns their lives into turmoil. Craig, stubborn and proud will not turn to friends and family for help and Dotty becomes increasingly isolated in her attempts to keep the wolves from the door.
Until the day Mike O’Connor comes into their lives, with promises of saving them, Dotty is powerless as she watches her once moralistic boyfriend fall into a life of crime and lies. As the stakes rise and the intention moves to the echelons of organised crime can Dotty convince Craig this isn’t worth his life, or is he too far down the rabbit hole to come back safely.
This is a story about individual choices, made under external and internalised pressure. The lines between victim and perpetrator blur as the cost of justice rarely forgives or excuses poverty. As Dotty and Craig navigate betrayal, loyalty and the law, they must confront their own truths and what it means for them to survive.
In a world where every truth has a price, will this couple stay strong together or survive apart?
